Ive been away on holidays since the day after this lovely wedding, and I feel terrible that I havent had a little sneak peek up for Melissa and Kevin! Now, Im hoping that they are so engrossed in their amazing Mexican honeymoon that they havent had a chance to ‘log on’! I had a fabulous day with the these two and their lovely wedding party. Everyone was so helpful and giving of themselves. It was yet another superb couple to add to my roster of amazing clients. Im not sure how I get this lucky? :) Enjoy this little preview while I get myself up to speed and tackle the overflowing ‘Ebasket’ of jobs waiting for me :)

I spotted Kevin’s parents wedding photo as Melissa was preparing to marry their son. Thought this quite poignant :)

Kudos to the amazing bridesmaids who took care of Melissa all day.  Loved the shoes, and of course their matching pedicures!

HOT HOT HOT! This weekend was Melissa and Matts wedding, and it was a scorcher! Im not sure how those boys survived in those black suits? ha. What a tremendous family and group of friends they are blessed with. So many had flown in from Newfoundland (Melissa’s home town) to share in this great occassion. I had a super day with this laid back gorgeous couple and honoured to share a little sneak peak of images from their day.

Lisa & Don | Lisa McDonald Photography

I had the privilege of shooting Lisa & Don’s wedding out in Kananaskis this past weekend. It turned out to be a gorgeous sunny, albeit WINDY day in the valley, but we didnt let that stop us :) With loved ones flying in from the other side of the country, it was a beautiful intimate affair surrounded by close friends and family. It was a joy to hang out with the east coast gang and we captured some great images. I wish this lovely young couple the best of luck in their bright future ahead.

These stunning eyes of Lisa’s are getting me loopy!!!  they are so amazing!

The Stony Nakoda Lodge gave us some great different locations to work with…Lake, Fields, Mountains…you name it.

Celina & Shaun

Filed under: Weddings — lisamcdonald @ 12:50 PM

When I began my photography career over 8 years ago I typically only shot families and babies.  So when Celina approached me about doing her wedding (all those many years ago) I nervously jumped at the chance.  She was one of my first wedding clients!  From that day on we have kept in touch and they have since moved closer to Calgary and has added a beautiful baby boy to the mix.  Celina is an amazing hairdresser, and in fact, she is my ‘go to girl’ when brides are in need of some glam on their wedding day :)

So as we continue our friendship and business relationship, she has admired the growth in my photography and I mentioned to her how I would LOVE to reshoot her wedding some day. HA.  we joked…but…as only she can – she still fits into her wedding dress!  Coincidently, I was looking for a model to get my creative wedding juices flowing – and immediately thought of her.  So, that joke became a reality…and VOILA – how about this knock out, absolutely stunning woman.  Its befitting that their 5 year wedding anniversary is just around the corner and for us to recreate and re-live those special moments.  Even though this was all in fun…Shaun had to pick his jaw up off the floor when he saw her in that gown again.  A true beauty in so many ways.  I have to say, these images take my breath away and they are so beyond my capabilities those many many years ago.  This was a great experience for me, to realize my own potential and how far I truly have come over the years :)

I love this captured moment of two very connected people.  The lighting was so extrordinairy in this little patch of grass.  I could have shot here all day!

Just curious if she could be any more beautiful :)

Elizabeth and Karl’s big wedding day

Filed under: Weddings — lisamcdonald @ 2:29 AM

I can’t begin to tell you how cute this couple is!  Not only are they fabulous in photos…they are the sweetest couple EVER.  The love and respect that they have for each other was so apparent on their wedding day and I am so honored to have been asked to cover it.

They both have a great sense of humour…Elizabeth shared her infectious laugh with us all day long; you are so lovely!  E is also the most calm and relaxed bride I probably have ever met in my life.  No wonder everyone was having so much fun and truly enjoying this special day.  I see such a bright future for you two :)

Is this not the cutest ‘jumping’ shot ever.  OMG, we laughed SO hard when shooting this.  We had roses and dresses flying everywhere!  and yes girls, the guys have some pretty stellar jumps that equally match yours.

The rain kept coming…so we werent able to venture out to the park.  However, we luckily had Elizabeths parents beautiful home to utilize.  There was alot of great areas to keep dry under the awnings & umbrellas. That also meant that we got to use 1 of the SEVEN puppy props they have!!  How adorable is that bow.

Then of course, theres the gorgeous (and FUN) girls.  You can tell there are some very strong friendships and love in this group :)  Thankfully the rain stopped just prior to leaving for the reception so we were able to get a few shots outdoors.

The boys were so much fun; and ready for anything.  What a great group of friends you both have.

Who doesnt love a bride that wears fuschia pink shoes to her dance!!!  Love it.

At the reception we set up a ‘photo booth’ and literally had a line up through the bar with people wanting to get in.  Everyone was a hoot; old and young.  Nobody was posed…this was all very spontaneous. I must say, I had some pretty good laughs sorting through them all.  Heres a little sneak peak.  (w/ vintage coloring & frame)

wedded bliss

Filed under: Weddings — lisamcdonald @ 7:46 PM

The one thing I LOVE about my job is the wonderful people I am privileged to meet.  I also get to be involved in some pretty memorable occassions; weddings, new babies, couples in love. Its a job that is happy, and I am so privileged to be living my dream :) Seldom does a shoot go by that doesn’t have me tear up at some point. Its just who I am. I get pretty emotional.

So, this is especially apparent when I am shooting a wedding. There has never been a wedding that didn’t make me cry the moment I lay my eyes on the beautiful bride for the first time. This is actually pretty funny, because this tends to make the bride tear up…and then makes us both laugh! it sure is an ice breaker and sort of gives us this little womanly bond for the day.

Well, this did not change this past weekend. The moment I saw this lovely woman come down the aisle, you guessed it, I got a knot in my stomach and my eyes swelled (thank god for AutoFocus!).  Sheri looked amazing, and SO happy. It doesnt matter how old you are; be it a first, or second marriage. Being in love is something you just cant hide :)

Enjoy some of my favorite images of the day
