Im back!

Filed under: Lifestyle, Personal works, kids! — lisamcdonald @ 8:51 PM

I have been away on holidays for the past week…and couldnt figure out the “out of office” buttons on my email.   I find it quite interesting that I can do most things – Im a pretty self sufficient woman actually. but ask me to answer a second call on my cell phone or god forbid use an electronic scheduler….fageddaboudit!!!!! I am useless people.  So I send out my apologies if you’ve been trying to reach me to no avail.

However, the good news is…I can post images on my blog like an old pro now. here comes some pics of the Man-child in MickeyLand. what a hoot. Compared to this snowy Spring were having here in Calgary, good Ol’ Orlando is looking pretty awesome at 28 degrees.

Our little man loved the explosions, fast cars and exciting rides!  What a superb age to visit DisneyWorld.

We stayed at an unbelievable family resort called the Reunion Resort.  check out this awesome water park for our little fish!

Our main floor condo was on the golf course and we had these ’sand cranes’ come visit us every day.  Jack figured they’d like cheese flavoured Goldfish crackers as much as he does :)  our little poser.

Fall has arrived

Filed under: Personal works — lisamcdonald @ 6:15 AM

It has been so beautiful in Calgary this past week.  The trees are turning gold, the sun is out and little boys are finding ways to amuse themselves :)  Today was no exception.  A gorgeous day for our son to build leaf piles and keep busy in Aunties yard.  What a ham…

This last one had has laughing pretty hard.  He’s working this trampoline pretty hard! His expressions continually crack me up.

I have a fun family shoot booked for the morning, so thankfully the weather forcast has changed and rain is no longer a factor!  Calgary in the fall is gorgeous, and there is no better time to get some great outdoor photos done :)

add storm chaser to my name!

Filed under: Personal works — lisamcdonald @ 3:22 AM

Its somewhat ironic that Im listening to the thunder clouds and rain outside my window as I write this.

Another summer storm.  Well today we decided to take off to the middle of Alberta and take in the world renowned “Royal Tyrell Museum”.  Very cool indeed.  However, I must say, taking a four year old always seems like such a good idea in theory.  Yes, he thought it cool.  Did I get to actually absorb anything I saw? No.   As a mom of a preschooler – its the constant running after him, and keeping his little wandering hands off the priceless Stegosaurus skeleton that keeps my day hopping.  After driving 1.5 hours to get there we sort of came to the conclusion that he’d much rather be in the playground NEXT to the museum.  Good thing we burned up that $1.38 a litre gas to figure that one out.   Kidding aside, Jack did think it was “Cool” and “Awesome” (in his words).   After a dip in the spray park and Ice cream cone at the ‘worlds largest dinosaur’, it was back on the highway.

This is where the fun starts.

So as were driving and admiring this amazing black sky that was beginning to take over the horizon – Jack fell asleep.  Thank god (in my words).  I start concentrating on this little ‘funnel’ that seems to be decending and then slowly rising back into the depths of the storm clouds.  “ah…honey…did you see that funnel?”   Apparently Bruce was watching it as well.  Somewhat scared, I still took out the camera to see if I could get something on film!   We keep watching.  The funnel comes down again…this time touching down.

So what do the McDonalds do?  We keep driving right towards it.  Luckily by the time our Hwy guided us to the place where the tornado had been – it was gone.  The sky still perpetuated a blackness that I have never experienced before.  Hearts pumping, we got thru unscathed.  Moments later the emergency broadcast system came over the radio saying a tornado had touched down and was moving 45 kms an hour in the area we had just escaped.

I suppose that was worth the price of admission right there.

Storyboards galore

Filed under: LMP Notes, Personal works — lisamcdonald @ 3:48 PM

So often people will ask “what exactly is a Storyboard”?  Well, to show you some possibilities I thought I might post a few of most recent ones Ive created for clients.  Its a great way to display a collection of your favorite images.  I can print them to fit a particular frame you have in mind, or have them professionally plaque mounted – or my favorite, printed on Canvas.  What a gorgeous piece of art for your home or office.
