old friends

My lovely friend Laurie….   I guess you could say she is my ‘oldest’ friend…not in years, as Im actually older by 6 months (she kindly reminds me of this fact often).  We’ve been friends for a whopping 25 years.  Laurie is, quite frankly, a “saint” and I am honored to be her friend :)  

She told me at the beginning of the shoot that she is not photogenic at all…ah…I beg to differ.  She is stunning in this photo.

Sunshine on a gloomy day :)

Today we woke up to grey skys and a sprinkling of rain.  Not what I wanted, or expected, for todays’ shoot.  However, we all met at Edworthy Park with a positive attitude and had a great shoot.  Lori & Derek have two of the most lovely girls Ive ever met.  Both so even tempered and willing to take part in all of my silly requests.  It was cold (with a perfect cloudy overcast I must say), and we finished up our session just as the skys opened up on us.  Now hows that for timing. 

For those little ones that just aren’t in the mood to sit, its always nice to capture some images of them exerting some energy!

I also have to send out a big hug to my wonderful makeover artist Celina who did such a beautiful job on moms hair and makeup.  She looked amazing, and I think she felt pretty glamourous today – it sure shows in her smile  :)

It seemed appropriate that there were train tracks near the park…Dad happens to works for a major railroad!

Fall has arrived

It has been so beautiful in Calgary this past week.  The trees are turning gold, the sun is out and little boys are finding ways to amuse themselves :)  Today was no exception.  A gorgeous day for our son to build leaf piles and keep busy in Aunties yard.  What a ham…

 

This last one had has laughing pretty hard.  He’s working this trampoline pretty hard! His expressions continually crack me up.

I have a fun family shoot booked for the morning, so thankfully the weather forcast has changed and rain is no longer a factor!  Calgary in the fall is gorgeous, and there is no better time to get some great outdoor photos done :)

family of five

I have so many great friends that have supported me over these past few years.  So a big thank you if I havent said so in awhile!  My lovely friend Heather, who also loves to ’shoot’, asked me to do some family photos for her this past weekend.  As a photographer, and a mom,  I can relate to having no family photos…as we are always the ones behind the lens!  So it is great that she took this opportunity to get all 5 of them in photos together!  I had a great time with the kids and I know mom will love some of these candid shots of them.  She sure has her hands full with 3 little ones….its a good thing I wore my running shoes to keep up with them :)  

Fall…my favorite time of year

I had the privilege of hanging out with such a great family this morning.  I have photographed the children at their preschool in the past, so what a great call to do the whole family.  It certainly was a crisp ‘Autumn’ morning, perfect for having a bit of adventure at the park.   Our shoot started off with the sad and untimely release of our colorful balloons into the sky!!  I think I can blame that one on not enough coffee? Unfortunate, but we charged on -  We didnt let that stop us from getting some great expressions on these beautiful faces.  Love the outfits on this family!  I always encourage fun and colorful clothes for kids and mom nailed it on this shoot!  Well done.
